3+ years of experience in a shipyard
Ability to certify in the following: **SMAW** (Shielded Metal Arc Welding) , **GTAW** (Gas Tungsten Arc Welding) , **FCAW** (Flux Core Arc Welding) or **Silver Brazing**
Ship compartment naming conventions
Basic math skills (addition, subtraction, multiplication, division) and familiarity with U.S. standard and metric measurement systems.
Pass the Structural Weld test (Stick and Flux Core)
Ship repair terminology
Physically capable of wearing all required PPE and adhering to OSHA safety standards.
Understanding of ship repair terminology and ability to interpret technical drawings and manuals.
Knowledge of P-3 joint with a permanent backing ring and P-14 socket weld joint.
Safely operate and maintain welding equipment, portable power tools, and hand tools.
Interpret drawings, specifications, and Navy/MSC/ABS standards.
2-5 years of experience as a n Aluminum Welder, with specific knowledge of **SMAW** , **FCAW** , and **GMAW** welding techniques.
